Agadir, Morocco
After 8 years of going to Marrakech we felt that we needed a change. But Morocco is such a great contrast to Europe and just 3 hours flight from the UK that we didn't want to wander far. In fact we are just taking a short camel ride down to the coast. Agadir sits on the edge of the Atlantic where the huge rollers crash onto the sandy beaches sending a fine sea mist over the coast. The sun shines 300+ days a year and there are three superb golf courses awaiting our arrival.
Although it lacks some of the charm of the older Moroccan cities, this is because it was largely levelled by an earthquake. It has been rebuilt as a tourist resort with some considerable success.
There are dozens of hotels along the 10km stretch of beach. We have chosen the Sofitel Royal Bay which is right on its own private beach where you can lounge away the days on their four poster beach beds. It has four restaurants to choose from and 6 bars and is just a short distance from town and the golf courses. There are restaurants a short walk from the hotel.
Fly to Agadir non stop from Gatwick or Manchester with Thomson Fly.
