It's The Taking Part
Of course it's great to win, but in every tournament there can only be one winner. But on Greencard events it is the taking part that counts. Whether you are 16 or 70, scratch or 18, a lady or a gent, when you tee it up with us on Tour you become part of the Club. When the round is over we are all equal in the clubhouse.
What's The Format?
All Greencard holidays have a 72 hole individual stableford as the Main Event. But on the longer trips of a week or more there will also be fun team games, Am Am's and Texas Scrambles.
In the main tournament the first two rounds are drawn prior to the event pairing players of similar handicap and then for the final two rounds the draw is made exactly as in a professional event with the leaders going out last.
Who Goes to Vila Sol?
Throughout the year there are 16 separate competitions. The winner of every one of these events will be on the plane to the Grand Finals at the 5 star Vila Sol Golf Resort in November. In addition everyone who collects 10 Tour Points in the year wll also be on the plane. They will fly from the local airport for 7 nights in a shared luxury apartment, 5 rounds of golf and share of a car.
How Do I Collect Tour Points?
We don't just like to reward the Winners, we also like to reward those who regularly do well. If you are the runner-up at one of the events as well as a nice prize you will also get 9 Tour Points, 3rd place will get 8 and 4th gets 7 down to 10th place with 1 point. Anyone who accumulates 10 points in the season wins the Free trip to the Finals. So come 5th in an event and 7th in another and you are on your way to Portugal.
Do I Have to Play in All the Events?
No of course you don't have to play all the events. Each tournament is a holiday in its own right, but many of our clients enjoy them so much they like to do 2 or 3 in a year. This is why we invented the Tour Points which reward consistency.
The Greencard Spirit
Greencard has been running competitions for 30 years. Over that time we have grown into a wonderful club of travelling golfers that welcomes all newcomers. The fact that on any event over 80% of the clients are repeat customers says it all. When you walk into the Welcome Cocktail it feels like an old reunion which it is. But every new member is welcomed with open arms. The Tournament Organiser, who also acts as a rep on every tour, ensures that you are quickly introduced to your playing partners.
